Guardian Water & Power Receives Patent Office Registrations

Columbus, Ohio September 15, 2008 – Guardian Water & Power, a Columbus-based provider of utility submetering and cost recovery services, today announced that it has received two trademark approvals from the U. S. Patent Office.  Guardian Soft+ is the registered trademark for Guardian’s newest utility billing and customer information system.   Scheduled for introduction in October, Guardian Soft+ has been under development for two years and is currently in the final stages of testing. 

The Patent Office also formally approved Guardian’s application for use of the tradename Guardian Scan+.  Scan+ provides apartment managers with internet access to meter reading and utility usage information.  “Scan+ was designed specifically for water meters that electronically transmit reading data through a radio frequency system,” said Robert Kennedy, Guardian’s Information Technology Manager.  “Internet access to meter readings and daily water usage will help conserve water usage since property managers can quickly identify and repair water leaks that might otherwise go undetected,” according to Kennedy.  “We believe apartment residents will also appreciate the efforts taken by management to keep their plumbing systems in good working order and their water utility expenses as low as possible.”   

“Guardian Soft+ and Guardian Scan+ are Microsoft-based systems that incorporate graphical user interface features that can be linked to most property management software systems.” said Kennedy. 

Guardian Water & Power installs and monitors water, gas and electric metering systems in multi-unit residential and commercial properties. These systems typically connect individual meters through a radio frequency network that transmits readings once a day to Guardian’s billing center.  Guardian provides meter installation, maintenance and utility billing services for properties located in twenty five states.
