Guardian Water & Power Signs Distributor Agreement With Energy Billing Systems

November 10, 2005 – Guardian Water & Power, a national provider of utility cost recovery services, today announced that it has signed a distributor agreement with Energy Billing Systems, Inc. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, EBS manufactures the G.A.S.T and G.A.S.TT heat-cost allocation systems. These systems are designed to convert apartment communities originally constructed with owner-paid gas utility service to resident-paid service.

“We evaluated several systems before choosing EBS as our heat-cost allocation partner,” said Guardian President Harry Apostolos. “EBS’s heat allocation equipment incorporates both “time” and “time/temperature” measurements so that heat delivered to each apartment can be accurately determined,” stated Apostolos. “The G.A.S.T and G.A.S.TT systems also have other features we’ve been looking for in a gas allocation product. These features include reading displays and on/off lighting for resident verification, nonproprietary system components and disconnect circuitry, all features which focus on resident and management satisfaction.”

Guardian installs and monitors utility metering and allocation systems in multi-unit residential and commercial properties. The systems typically connect individual meters through a radio frequency network that transmits readings to an on-site electronic data collector. Meter readings are then routed once a day through a telephone connection to a central billing office.

Heat-cost allocation systems automatically calculate gas consumption and heat-cost bills for each dwelling unit in the apartment community. “Our G.A.S.T and G.A.S.TT systems allocate gas-heating costs of forced air gas furnaces, fireplaces, domestic hot water heaters and baseboard and fan coil boiler/chiller systems,” said Roger Freischlag, Energy Billing System President. “Our systems are designed to meet the growing demand for accurate billing of resident heating costs in apartment communities that were originally built with owner-paid gas service.”

“We are pleased that Guardian selected the G.A.S.T and G.A.S.TT systems as their preferred product in the heat allocation market,” said Freischlag. “Guardian’s 22-year track record in utility submetering and allocation will strengthen our position in the multifamily heat allocation market and help Guardian better serve their heat allocation clients.”
